ACT MAI Insurance
Motor Accident Injuries (MAI) Insurance provides cover to people injured in a motor vehicle accident. You may be entitled to receive treatment, care and lost income benefits for up to five years – regardless of who is at fault.
ACT Motor Accident Injuries Insurance
Anyone registering a motor vehicle in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) must have Motor Accident Injuries (MAI) Insurance. In the ACT, MAI Insurance is included in your total registration fee paid to Access Canberra when you register your vehicle. You can choose Apia as your MAI insurer when renewing your ACT registration.
How much does MAI Insurance cost?
ACT MAI Insurance FAQS
MAI Insurance is linked to the vehicle, not the owner. If you sell your vehicle, the MAI Insurance policy will be transferred to the new owner.
Similarly, if you purchase a registered vehicle the MAI Insurance will already be placed with a MAI insurer.
If you’ve recently purchased or sold your car, please ensure that you have completed the change of ownership with Access Canberra.
MAI Insurance provides defined benefits to cover injury to you, your family and other road users in the event of a motor vehicle accident, regardless of who’s at fault.
