Get Set. Golf. Apia at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open.
At Apia, we love golf just as much as you do, it’s why we were proud to be a major partner of the ISPS HANDA Australian Open 2022.
The golfing event that fans had been eagerly waiting for finally returned to Melbourne last month, with more than 50,000 spectators flocking to the Australian Open (AO) to watch some of the world’s best golfers in action. Hosted at the Victoria and Kingston Heath golf clubs in Melbourne, the Open was a golfing world first, bringing together the national men’s and women’s competitors along with the All Abilities Championship, with 144 men and 144 women playing for equal prize money.
More than 200,000 fans tuned in across the country to watch the likes of Australian stars Cameron Smith, Minjee Lee, Adam Scott and Hannah Green in action via the live broadcast on Channel Nine, as well as Foxtel and Kayo.
Fans were treated to a thrilling finish as Polish player Adrian Meronk, South African Ashleigh Buhai and Kipp Popert triumphed for the first time in the men’s, women’s and All Abilities competitions respectively.
As a Major Partner of Golf Australia and the 2022 ISPS Handa Australian Open, Apia was proud to roll out several activations under the Get Set. Golf platform including a Win a VIP AO Experience promotion, exclusive customer discount ticket offers, sponsorship of the official event Apia Volunteer Team, free introductory Get into Golf clinics presented by Apia and a highly visible and exclusive customer Apia Good Life Hub in the Event Fan Village.
The hub welcomed close to 1,000 guests throughout the four-day event, providing fans and customers with an opportunity to relax and recharge in between the golfing action. Apia Ambassador Andrew Daddo was on hand at the event to meet and greet customers and volunteers and film some “Apia Know How” content series in partnership with Golf Australia.
Apia Golf Ambassador Andrew Daddo also joined tour professional Steph Kyriacou for her practice round at the Australian Open. Watch below to see Andrew and Step on course at Victoria Golf Club:
